Mr. Bennet and Lizzy (Elizabeth) have a close relationship. The significance about this is, in total Mr. Bennet has five girls. But out of all of his children he favors Elizabeth above them all. The strength of this relationship, later on, prevents Elizabeth from accepting a proposal. Her father states that if she accepts he will never speak to her again. Because of this she denies the offer in order to maintain their relationship.
